Barrel Aging Hits Vertigo!

Today we moved beer into a whiskey barrel provided to us by Big Bottom Whiskey (check them out at http://bigbottomwhiskey.com/). We are planning on letting this age well into next year. This will be a new beer for us. A dark beer to be sure, but we will give more details when the beer is ready. You can check it out at the brewery next time you are in.

Long overdue post

Hi Vertigo fans, it has been a long time since I have posted. A lot has been going on at the brewery. We have taken delivery of a 7 bbl brew system. It is a used system and we have a long way to go before it will be up and running, but we are getting closer.

Yesterday was a busy day. We brewed 6.5 bbls of beer. Michael started the brew day at 4:15 am with a 2 barrel batch of Razz Wheat then continued with a double batch of Friar Mike's IPA. I finished the second batch of that and finished the day off with a double batch of Arctic Blast '10 Vanilla Porter. Finally finished up about 1:30 this morning. It was a long day, but we have a lot of beer in the works.

Resting today watching some NFL games and look forward to enjoying a Friar Mike's IPA this afternoon.

Two very overdue thanks!

Arctic Blast Vanilla Porter

By popular demand, we brewed a batch of our Arctic Blast Vanilla Porter yesterday that will be available only at the brewery for growler fills. We expect it to be ready in about 3 weeks. I will post again when it is done.

Starting today, Vertigo Brewing is allowed to fill growlers at the brewery. We have growlers with the Vertigo logo on them for sale for $5.00 and we will be filling them or your 1/2 gallon growlers for $10.00. We still do not have regular hours at the brewery so please call ahead if you are interested. And we will not have every one of our beer styles for sale at the same time, so please also call for available selections. Our number is 503-645-6644.

Green Dragon Mini-Beer Fest Postponed

Due to a road closure, this weekends mini-brew fest that was scheduled at the Green Dragon has been postponed until September 19th and 20th. I hope you can make it then and support the Portland Pixie Project that a portion of the proceeds of this festival goes to help.

Vertigo Brewing to Participate in Green Dragon Mini Beerfest

Vertigo Brewing will participate in the upcoming mini-beerfest

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Portland-based Pixie Project http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/OR207.html, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing animal adoption in a nurturing environment and affording access to spay and neuter services for everyone.

It has come to my attention that O'Brien's Pub in Hillsboro will fill your growlers. Vertigo Razz Wheat and Friar Mike's IPA is on tap there and you can get it to go. They do not sell the growlers there, but if you have one they will fill it for you.

Warm Summer Days

Hi all, we have just kegged our first seasonal. We have a great Rye beer for the next couple of months. This beer is light and refreshing. It goes great with a Reuben sandwich. Look for it in the coming weeks at the better beer bars and restaurants. We are sure you will enjoy this summer beer.
